Why do fence posts fail so often in Arizona?
The post lives in the worst spot on the fence: sun-baked above the soil, moisture-cycled at the soil line, and loaded like a lever every time the wind blows. Wood posts weaken right at grade, and once one post softens, the wind starts working on its neighbors. Replacing failed posts promptly is the cheapest way to protect the rest of the run.
A storm blew down a whole section. Can it be saved?
Usually, yes. If the panels came through intact and the failure was at the posts, we reset the posts and rehang the section, often reinforced beyond its original build. If the panels shattered, we rebuild them. Blown-down rarely means totaled. It means the weakest link finally announced itself.
Why does my gate sag when the rest of the fence is fine?
A gate is the only part of the fence that moves, so it carries loads the panels never see. Hinges wear, the frame racks out of square, and Phoenix sun warps the wood on top of it all. We rebuild the frame square, fit hardware rated for the weight, and adjust it to latch cleanly. A gate should close with one hand and no ritual.
Should I repair my fence before or after monsoon season?
Before. June through September is when weak posts and loose panels get found out, and everyone else discovers the same thing the same week. A spring repair costs the same, schedules easier, and means you spend storm season watching the rain instead of the fence line.
