A shower is judged twice. Once on the day it is installed, when everyone admires the tile and the glass. And once a few years later, inside the wall, where nobody is looking. The first judgment is about taste. The second is about whether the installer did the waterproofing right, and it is the only judgment that gets expensive.

Every shower failure story runs the same way. The visible surfaces looked fine. Behind them, a membrane was skipped, a pan was set out of level, a valve connection wept a little with every use. By the time water announces itself, through a stain on a ceiling or a soft spot in a wall, it has been working in silence for months. The repair bill covers the shower and everything the water touched on its way out.

This is why Bleuwave Handyman treats shower installation as a waterproofing job with a nice finish on top, not the other way around. We demo the old unit, inspect what is behind it while the wall is open, and build the new one in the proper order: sound backing, correct slopes, sealed pan, tested valve connections, and clean fixture work. The caulk lines you see at the end are the last layer of defense, not the only one.

We install the full range: tub-to-shower conversions, prefab surrounds, and tiled showers, plus the glass, fixtures, and trim that finish the job. We help you weigh materials honestly, and in this hard-water city we will steer you toward surfaces and fixtures that will not look ten years old in three.

Questions, answered straight

How long does a shower installation take?

A prefab surround swap typically runs one to two days. A tiled shower takes longer because pans, membranes, and mortar need cure time between stages; rushing those stages is how leaks are born. We give you a day-by-day plan at the estimate.

Can you convert my bathtub to a walk-in shower?

Yes, and it is one of our most requested projects. The tub comes out, the plumbing gets adapted, and a shower with a low or no-threshold entry goes in. It usually adds daily convenience and accessibility without moving any walls.

Tile or prefab surround: which should I choose?

Prefab installs faster, costs less, and has fewer joints to maintain. Tile offers more design range and can be repaired piecemeal, but it depends on grout and caulk upkeep, especially with Valley hard water spotting. Both are good showers when installed right; we will price both for your space.

How do I know my current shower is leaking behind the wall?

Warning signs include soft or discolored drywall near the shower, a musty smell, loose tiles, or flooring that feels spongy at the threshold. If any of those are present, have it looked at promptly. Hidden water never gets cheaper with time.

Will hard water ruin my new shower?

It will try. Scale dulls glass and clogs shower heads throughout the Valley. We seal surfaces appropriately and can recommend fixtures and glass treatments that resist buildup, plus the simple habits that keep a new shower looking new.
